The Best Day Ever!

My mom and I talk often about the day I was born. It's my absolute favourite day, so I thought I'd share it with you. It all started when my mom's water broke on Monday morning. She went to see her doctor later that day, and then was sent to Langley Memorial to get all checked out, since she wasn't having any contractions. They sent her home, and told her to come back the next day and they'd induce her then. But the next day the maternity ward at LMH was packed with all kinds of ladies having babies, so they sent her to Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock. She was induced around 1pm on that Tuesday; her contractions sped up and intensified in just a few short hours. She tried breathing in gas to help out with the pain, but she didn't like that, and then she had morphine but that didn't help either! Meanwhile, daddy left the hospital to get himself some fast food. (Looking back, mommy's not sure she was so happy about daddy leaving!). Around 7pm she was all ready to bring me into the world, if you know what I mean... and at 8:52pm I arrived! Grandma and Grandpa Horban were driving home from Vancouver that evening, so they decided to make a stop at the hospital just a few hours before I was born. And my auntie Megan met them there. They were so patient to wait for my arrival, so I got to meet them just minutes after my birth. And then Grandpa and Grandma Baerg came to visit me the next day. So did a lot of other people who were anticipating my birth. Below are a few photos of the big event:

A Little Update

Well, I've been keeping busy these last few weeks. I had my first set of shots today. Four in total. Boy, that hurt! And I have to go back for more in a couple of months! But I was pretty brave, I must say. Hardly any tears. Speaking of bravery, my cousin Kenzie got his tonsils taken out earlier this week. He wasn't scared at all. And now he gets to eat burgers and fries and chips and all kinds of things that scratch up his throat. Lucky! All I ever get is milk.

My dad ran the Sun Run for the first time on Sunday. And he did it in just over 70 minutes! I'm so proud of him; he didn't even train for the run! Grandma Horban told daddy she was worried he'd die doing the run. For real. Silly Grandma! Next year he hopes to run it in under 60 minutes. I know he can do it. Maybe one day I can run it with him.

Last night I went for a walk with my mom and dad to a magical place called Starbucks. I'm told I'll appreciate Starbucks when I'm a grown-up. We're going on lots of walks now that Spring is here, but what made this walk different was daddy carried me in the Baby Bjorn my aunt Sylvia sent us, instead of my usual cruisin' in the stroller. I got to snuggle up with my dad sooo much! Thanks, Auntie Sylv! Here are a couple pictures of us just before we left for the walk, and a picture of me with Cuddle Monkey (Auntie Megan gave me C.M. for Christmas, before I was even born).

Happy Easter!

It's my very first Easter weekend celebration, and so far I'm lovin it! Today I enjoyed a lovely family Easter dinner at Grandma & Grandpa Horban's house with the whole fam. Plus, it's Grandpa's and my cousin Danae's birthdays this month, so we celebrated them too. Tomorrow we're going to celebrate Easter at Grandma & Grandpa Baerg's house.

Here are some pictures of me with my cousins, Mackenzie & Cooper and then Avri, Danae & Marea. Plus a few more pictures of me smiling, since I apparently have the cutest smile ever! Oh, by the way, I don't have a picture of me with my cousins Paige, Josie and Taylor cause they live in Quebec and I haven't met them yet (I can't wait to meet you all, Harders!). And the grown-up in one of the photos is my cool aunt Megan. "Holla!" Auntie Megan!
